About Laura
I am a Buddhist Studies professor at Boston University, where I teach courses in American Studies, Asian History and Religions, Cinema and Media Studies and a Core Curriculum program on world literatures and writing. I love to teach and combine academic rigor with humor and accessibility.

I am a university professor with twenty-plus years of experience as a private tutor in high school humanities courses ranging from English literature to AP History.
I am passionate about what I teach, non-judgmental and have an excellent sense of humor. My concern is not only to hone my students' skills in specific subjects, but to help them learn how to be students. Studying, annotating texts, test taking, time management, communicating with teachers -- these are not genetic inheritances, they are skills that can be learned. I have been teaching them with great success for more than two decades.
