About Steven
Having been born and raised in Damascus to linguist parents who specialise in Arabic language and literature, I have been immersed in the richness of Arabic from an early age. Arabic is my native language, and I speak with a neutral, clear Arabic accent—often described as a BBC Arabic accent. Having lived in London for 8 years, I’ve further improved my vocabulary, pronunciation, and accent. I have studied the language extensively in school and through deep engagement with Arabic literature, the Quran, and its linguistic intricacies. My expertise includes Makhārij al-Ḥurūf (the precise articulation points of Arabic letters) and Tajwīd (the proper rules of Quranic recitation), ensuring precise pronunciation and articulation. I’m also an artist and I offer teaching in my work studio in East London.
