About Vivian
Hi! I'm Dr. Vivian Tan, and I believe learning should feel more like solving a puzzle than climbing a mountain.
I'm a board-certified pathologist (M.D.) and adjunct professor with experience teaching health science courses and helping students navigate some of the most challenging subjects in healthcare. Throughout my career, I've worked in pathology, molecular diagnostics, oncology genomics, quality systems, and medical affairs, but one of my greatest joys is teaching.
I know pathophysiology can feel overwhelming. (Let's be honest—sometimes it seems like every disease has ten arrows pointing in ten different directions!) My goal is to untangle the confusion by breaking complex concepts into simple, logical steps.
My teaching style is highly visual. I love drawing quick doodles, flowcharts, and diagrams because I believe a simple sketch can often explain what an entire page of text cannot. If you've ever thought, "I memorized it yesterday, but today it makes no sense," you're not alone, and that's exactly where I can help.
I enjoy working with curious, hardworking students and adult learners who are determined to succeed. My goal isn't just to help you pass your next exam. It's to help you finally say, "Oh! Now I get it!"

Every tutoring session is tailored to your course and learning needs. Before we meet, I'll ask you to send me the name of your textbook, the chapter you're studying, and the specific concepts or questions you would like help with. This allows me to prepare so we can make the most of our time together.
My teaching style is highly visual. I use simple doodle-style diagrams, flowcharts, and clinical examples to break down complex disease processes into easy-to-understand steps. My goal is not just to help you memorize information, but to help you truly understand why diseases occur and how the body responds.
My lessons are designed for community college, undergraduate, graduate students, and adult learners who are studying pathophysiology. I enjoy working with nursing students, pre-nursing students, pre-med, pre-PA, allied health, and other health science students who want to strengthen their understanding of disease processes. Whether you're preparing for an exam, struggling with a difficult chapter, or simply want to build a stronger foundation, I will tailor each lesson to your individual goals.
