Hi! I'm Rebecca Smart, or Ms. Smart as my students call me. I am a teacher with close to a decade of experience. I am passionate about what I teach and I am excited to help you or your child flourish not only academically but in their self-confidence. Fun facts about me: I was a figure skater (I still skate, just not competitively anymore), I enjoy running, and I have a spunky little pup named Oliver! Can't wait to meet and work with you!

This is more than tutoring—This Is Where Confidence Grows
Hi! I’m Rebecca founder of Blossom and Grow Tutoring, and I don’t just help students “get through” their work—I help them understand it, own it, and feel proud of it.
Every child learns differently—and I lean into that. My teaching is rooted in data-driven, differentiated instruction, which means I meet students exactly where they are and build them up step by step.
I blend:
- Clear, structured instruction (so nothing feels confusing or overwhelming)
- Hands-on strategies and visuals (especially for tricky math concepts)
- Real-time feedback and encouragement (because confidence matters just as much as skill)
I also use responsive teaching practices, creating a space where students feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and not be perfect.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
No two lessons are identical—but here’s the general flow:
Warm-Up & Review (5–10 min)
We revisit prior skills to build confidence and reinforce learning.
Targeted Mini-Lesson (10–15 min)
I explicitly teach a focused skill using clear examples and step-by-step modeling.
Guided Practice (10-15 min)
We work together—this is where I coach, prompt, and support.
Independent Practice (15-20 min)
Students try it on their own while I assess understanding in real time.
Wrap-Up & Reflection (5 min)
We celebrate wins, clear up confusion, and set goals for next time.
What Sets Me Apart
I don’t believe in “one-size-fits-all” teaching—everything is tailored
I specialize in helping students who feel stuck, frustrated, or behind
I focus heavily on building confidence, not just improving grades
I use real student data to guide every lesson (so we’re always making progress)
I create a learning environment where students feel seen, heard, and supported
Honestly? A lot of my students come in saying, “I’m just bad at this.” And leave saying, “Wait… I actually get it now.”
