About Layla
Hi, I’m Layla, a dedicated science tutor with a degree in Biomedical Science and two years of teaching experience in a secondary school. I specialise in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics up to GCSE level, as well as A-Level Biology, helping students build confidence, improve their grades, and develop a deeper understanding of science. I have always been passionate about science and education, and my goal as a tutor is to make learning engaging, accessible, and effective. I believe that science is best learnt through curiosity, engagement, and real-world application. My tutoring approach focuses on breaking down complex concepts into simple, digestible parts while using interactive techniques such as visual aids, practice problems, and real-life examples to reinforce understanding. I adapt my teaching style to fit each student’s learning preferences, ensuring they feel confident and motivated. Techniques & Teaching Methodology: I use a mix of explanations, guided practice, and active recall strategies. For difficult topics, I use analogies and visual diagrams to make concepts clearer. After all the learning, there is lots of exam practice to adapt our knowledge. Typical Lesson Length: Sessions typically last 60 minutes, but I can adjust the duration based on the student’s needs and attention span. Qualifications & Experience: I hold a Biomedical Science degree and have been teaching at a secondary school for two years, working with students aged 11-18. I started my QTS & PGCE qualification and have gained hands-on classroom experience, which has strengthened my ability to explain complex topics clearly. Who the Lessons Are For: I tutor secondary school students (ages 11-18) in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics up to GCSE level and A-Level Biology. I also provide targeted support for exam preparation, including GCSE and A-Level exams, focusing on past paper practice and exam techniques.
