About Angus
I am a Biomedical science graduate from the university of Sheffield achieving 2.1 Honours. I am passionate about science and am an excellent communicator leading to my aspirations to attain my PhD in order to get involved in research and teaching at university.
Working and studying in academia requires dedication and a strong work ethic. Achieving my excellent grades at GCSE, A-level and degree required consistent revision of the curriculum and exam techniques. This led to my success in A-level Biology, Chemistry and maths.
During my year away from academia I have worked in the NHS as a healthcare assistant. Working at Warwick hospital has allowed me to teach the student nurses and help them with their coursework. Similar to this during my studies at The University of Sheffield I participated in many study groups to help fellow students understand the fundamental topics of the course. I also tutored a group of year 7 students during my A-levels helping them with the transition between primary school and secondary.
Following the disruptions caused by COVID-19 to education, I hope tutorials with myself can help provide a boost to any learning that may have been disrupted. My lessons are tailored to individual students’ needs, but the aims of the lessons may include exam techniques, comprehension of the curriculum and revision strategies. Studying for many years myself I am familiar with the skills and techniques required to excel in the exams, including particular strategies for dyslexic students.
Working through exam-style questions will help you determine your areas of weakness for better quality revision. Going through past paper questions will help improve your approach to tricky questions, what questions are asking and how to structure your answers.
Any questions about your school work I am happy to answer, so bring as many questions as you can to our tutorials. Including any questions or topics, you didn’t understand during class. Similarly, I am happy to read any coursework and help you create a revision plan/ timetable.
