About Aimée

I've always enjoyed teaching because I'm good at it, and because it delivers something tangible: genuine understanding, not just memorisation for an exam. I know how the exam system works—I can help a student tick the boxes they need to pass—but I don't stop there. My goal is to make sure they actually understand the material, so they're not just repeating an answer but can think it through for themselves.

My background includes marine conservation, ecological surveys, zoo keeping in Australia, and—since returning to the UK—horticulture, including a role as Head Gardener at Oxford University colleges and as a horticulture apprentice trainer. That mix of academic biology and hands-on vocational teaching means I can explain concepts from multiple angles, whether it's plant science, ecosystems, or practical environmental work.

I currently run my own business teaching leather craft, but the most rewarding part of any teaching role—including training apprentices—has been helping people find their strengths and develop real confidence in a subject. I'm particularly effective with neurodivergent students because I adapt my approach to the person, not a template. I teach to help people understand, retain, and apply knowledge—and to get the grades they need along the way.

I'm an environmental biologist and former Head Gardener at Oxford University colleges, with a degree in Environmental Biology and years of experience teaching apprentices and adults. I currently teach crafts at festivals, so I know how to make learning hands-on, calm, and creative.

I'm especially good with neurodivergent students (ADHD, autism, anxiety, PDA) — I adapt my pace, use visuals and outdoor learning where possible, and focus on building confidence, not just exam results.

What makes me different:

Most biology tutors focus only on textbooks. I bring:

· Real Oxford University horticulture experience – I’ve managed historic gardens and taught apprentices hands-on plant science.
· Environmental biology degree – so ecology, ecosystems, and fieldwork are genuine strengths.
· Festival craft teaching – I know how to make learning engaging for students who struggle with traditional classroom methods.
· Neurodivergent-friendly approach – I break tasks down, allow fidgeting/movement, use low-demand language, and celebrate small wins.
