About Leda
I have spent fifteen celebrated years nurturing more than 600 students in the integrated study of physiology, ecology, and conservation. My academic background includes a master's degree in zoology and extensive field research in tropical conservation biology. I have worked as a field biologist, conservation educator, and secondary school teacher, giving me a comprehensive understanding of how to connect biological science to environmental action. My students have become conservation biologists, ecologists, environmental educators, and wildlife veterinarians. I am known for my passion for the natural world, my integrated teaching approach, and my ability to inspire students to become advocates for conservation. I maintain active fieldwork partnerships with conservation organizations and bring real-world ecological data and experiences into my teaching. Outside of tutoring, I lead conservation expeditions, write about biodiversity issues, and volunteer with wildlife rehabilitation centers. I believe that biology education must produce not only knowledgeable scientists but also informed citizens who will protect the diversity of life on Earth.

My biology teaching is celebrated for its holistic approach combining the study of organismal physiology with ecology and conservation in ways that inspire students to care for the living world. For physiology I teach the functional biology of animals and plants emphasizing homeostasis adaptation and the integration of systems from molecules to organisms. Ecology is taught through the study of populations communities and ecosystems with extensive use of field data mathematical models and conservation case studies. I emphasize the connections between physiology and ecology showing how organismal biology shapes and is shaped by environmental interactions. Conservation science is integrated throughout teaching students to evaluate threats design interventions and understand the policy and social dimensions of biodiversity protection. My lessons incorporate extensive use of visual materials field observations and discussions of current research and environmental news. For exam preparation I teach comprehensive content coverage with emphasis on the integration of topics the use of precise terminology and the construction of well-reasoned extended responses. I also guide students in developing field research skills independent projects and preparation for environmental careers.
