About Catherine
My fascination with living systems and their mechanisms inspired me to pursue a B.Sc in Biotechnology followed by an M.Sc in Microbiology. Over 8 years, I have guided students from foundational knowledge to advanced topics, helping them develop analytical thinking, practical understanding, and scientific curiosity.
I teach with patience, clarity, and hands-on engagement. Lessons integrate visual aids, experiments, and exercises to make concepts intuitive and memorable. I encourage learners to explore independently, ask questions, and think critically, fostering both competence and confidence.
Outside teaching, I remain active in research, laboratory work, and scientific literature, bringing contemporary examples and real-world applications into my lessons. Seeing students gain mastery, confidence, and enthusiasm for biology is deeply rewarding and motivates me to continually improve my teaching methods.

Biology is the study of life in all its forms, and my lessons are designed to make its complexity clear, engaging, and practical. Students explore cellular biology, genetics, physiology, ecology, and evolutionary principles through interactive explanations, diagrams, hands-on exercises, and real-world examples. I emphasise conceptual understanding rather than memorisation, helping learners analyse processes, form hypotheses, and develop critical thinking skills. Lessons encourage curiosity and create a supportive environment for exploration.
Lesson plans are tailored to student levels. Beginners focus on cell structures, fundamental genetics, and classification of organisms to establish foundational knowledge. Intermediate learners explore molecular biology, physiological systems, and ecological interactions, enhancing analytical reasoning. Advanced learners tackle experimental design, genetic modelling, and independent research, fostering scientific inquiry and problem-solving skills. Each session incorporates discussion, practical exercises, and examples to reinforce understanding and application.
Beyond academic mastery, biology lessons nurture observation, critical thinking, and curiosity about living systems. Students develop the ability to interpret data, design experiments, and connect concepts across scales. My goal is to help learners gain confidence, excel academically, and develop a genuine passion for exploring life in its many forms.
