About Brianna
For several years, I have been tutoring at various levels. I am currently pursuing my graduate studies at Montclair State University and have worked for the Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine and Tygrus LLC.
A great educator strives to inspire discipline, passion, and grace. Consistency and willingness to engage with difficulty are essential for progress. However, true resilience also requires curiosity and embrace of process—a process including confusion and failure.
This is how the great educators in my own life operated—people to whom I owe so much of who I am, so much of what inspires and sustains me each day. Whether I'm regularly supporting a student or simply stepping in for a difficult moment, I hope to be that kind of educator for them.

Biology is more than a collection of related facts; it's a lens through which to experience the living world (including ourselves). My work is to equip students with the language, structure, and skills to engage through that lens, whether they're reading the word "cell" for the first time, fighting their way through AP bio, or starting a research project.
I am a firm believer in personalized and multimodal education. Approaching material through varying conceptual frameworks, sensory modalities, examples, and applications enables flexible and comprehensive understanding. My hope is that students who work with me learn, not only biology, but develop skills and a mindset applicable across disciplines.
In many cases, I am willing to provide lesson materials and resources. The first session will typically constitute a thirty minute interview (free) so as to outline our objectives, determine required materials (if necessary), and become familiar. Future lessons range from thirty minutes to an hour and a half in accordance with student preferences.
Policies
- Regarding cancellations, please give at least 12 hours notice. If not, I will charge half my lesson fee. Exceptions are, of course, made for emergencies.
- If you need to reschedule your lesson for another time or date, please try to give me 12 hours notice. However, I will not charge you so long as you contact me before our scheduled time.
- While individual lessons are preferred , I can accommodate multiple students simultaneously provided curricular compatibility. However, this will affect my hourly rate.
- Though I may suggest supplementary materials, I will never require my students to purchase anything besides the lesson itself. I can provide paper handouts, online documents, and library books free of charge. However, if a student would like to use supplementary materials that I can't access, they will be responsible for providing them.
I primarily teach online (zoom), but am also happy to teach in-person at Montclair State University (weekdays + Saturday) and the Tenafly Public Library (Sundays).
