I have experience tutoring students 1-on-1 for "Molecular Biology and Genetics." Sessions were spent reviewing lecture material and applying concepts to homework assignments and exam preparation.
My tutoring style is very engaging and involves asking questions intended to stimulate critical thinking and help students come to the correct answers on their own. I typically begin by asking students which topics they feel they are struggling to understand or apply. If they are not sure, then I start by asking them to tell me what they do know so I can see whether I should foster their fundamental understanding before introducing and making connections to advanced topics. My methods are interactive, as efficient communication of knowledge is just as important as learning it. I therefore try to make the dialogue as close to 50/50 as possible.

Brian worked for Wright State Tutoring Services Fall 2015, tutoring biology and chemistry. We received feedback that Brian was dependable, knowledgeable, prepared, and that they would recommend Brian to other students.
Brian helped me in BIO 2110, and I would say he was a phenomenal tutor. Patient with an ability to explain things in the simplest way possible for your understanding. I am very pleased to have had a tutor like Brian. Highly recommend him.
I found Brian to be very helpful for my Molecular Biology & Genetics class. I was really struggling in this class, but Brian took the time to go over concepts in the class until he made sure that I understood the concepts. I also saw an improvement in my exam scores after I started to have him tutor me. Overall, he is a very good tutor and listens to any problems that students are having with the material in order to personalize his methods to them.
