About Harin
Hi, I’m Harin, a biochemistry student at Texas A&M University. I’ve been tutoring students for several years in subjects like biology, chemistry, math, and SAT prep.
I know firsthand that some topics can seem overwhelming at first. My goal is to break things down into simple, easy-to-understand steps and help students build confidence along the way.
I’m patient, approachable, and committed to making sure each student truly understands the material rather than just memorizing it for a test. I believe the best tutoring happens when students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal is to create an environment where students can work through challenging material without feeling intimidated. Rather than simply giving answers, I focus on helping students understand why concepts work so they can solve similar problems on their own.
My Teaching Style:
I start by figuring out what the student already understands and where they are getting stuck. Once I identify the gaps, I explain the material in a straightforward way using examples, analogies, and visual breakdowns when helpful. I like to connect new concepts to ideas the student is already familiar with, which makes difficult topics much easier to grasp.
I also emphasize active learning. Instead of talking through an entire lesson, I work through problems with the student and then have them try similar questions independently. This approach builds confidence and helps ensure they truly understand the material.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like:
Each session is tailored to the student’s needs, but most lessons follow a similar structure:
-Review previous material and answer any outstanding questions
-Identify the specific topic or concept causing difficulty
-Explain the concept step by step
-Work through several example problems together
-Have the student solve practice questions on their own
-Summarize the key takeaways and discuss study strategies for future success
I always adjust the pace depending on the student’s level of understanding and learning style.
