About Amanda
When I was 16, I decided I wanted to be a teacher, so I went to college for education.
But I didn't just want to be a teacher, I wanted to be the highest quality teacher possible. I knew multilingualism would help me achieve this goal, so I worked in South America as an English teacher and learned Spanish. Then, I moved to Houston to teach Reading Intervention.
But I didn't just want to be a reading teacher, I wanted to be the best reading teacher my students ever had. I knew I need to learn more about the science of reading and how to teach it, so I went on to get my master's in Education and my doctorate in reading and literacy.
As a lifelong learner, I am constantly working to improve my craft. I strive to make my lessons fun and engaging while also being impactful and efficient.
My other interests include: Horseback riding, singing, studying cultures and languages, and enjoying time with my family.
