About Bruno Tessele

I'm Bruno Tessele, a dedicated drummer and music educator based in São Paulo, Brazil, with over 20 years of professional experience. I have performed and collaborated with numerous renowned artists in both Brazilian and international music scenes. I hold a degree in Music Composition from Souza Lima and am a proud Berklee Alumni (Scholarship Recipient).

My teaching career includes serving as a professor at the Conservatório Souza Lima and conducting workshops and masterclasses in Brazil and abroad. Currently, I offer private lessons both in-person and online at my studio.

As a professional, I have released my own album, "Adelante", showcasing my original compositions, and I've contributed to several acclaimed projects, including "Canto e Lugar," as a drummer, producer and arranger, which was nominated for the Prêmio Açorianos de Música.

I've had the privilege of performing with a diverse range of artists, including Esperanza Spalding, Roberto Menescal and Elza Soares. Additionally, I have endorsements from Evans Drumheads, ProMark Drumsticks and Bosphorus Cymbals.

My passion for teaching stems from my desire to inspire and guide students in their musical journeys. I emphasize personalized instruction that focuses on technical skills, groove development, and sound control, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to thrive.

Together, we will explore the world of drumming in a fun and engaging way!

The lessons are very personal and I try to understand what could really help the specific student. My teaching methodology is centered around a personalized approach that adapts to the unique needs and goals of each student.

I believe that every learner is different, and my lessons reflect that understanding, ensuring a more effective and enjoyable learning experience.

How the First Lessons Work: In our initial lessons, I focus on understanding what the student wants to study. I listen to their current skill level, discuss their musical preferences, and assess their experience. This helps me establish clear goals and determine the best study plan to develop their abilities effectively.

Together, we will work on:

Technical Skills: Improving fundamental techniques and coordination. Groove
Development: Enhancing rhythmic feel and musicality.
Sound Control: Learning how to get the right tones out of the instrument.

My approach is always musical and fun, making the learning process enjoyable while fostering growth in technical proficiency and creativity. Each lesson is conducted online with high-quality audio and video to ensure clarity and engagement.

My goal is to create a supportive and motivating environment that empowers you to grow as a drummer. Together, we’ll embark on a musical journey that’s both fulfilling and fun!

Find out more about Bruno Tessele

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I started taking drum lessons when I was 10, and although I enjoyed it, my true passion for music emerged in my teenage years when I gathered my friends to play together. Around that time, I also began teaching my first students, which deepened my understanding of drumming and showed me how a good mentor can truly impact a student's life.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Yes, I love listening to music! I grew up on a lot of rock, so it's in my DNA. Later, I got deeply into jazz and Brazilian music-styles I can listen to all day long without getting tired.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

Sometimes, the hardest things are found in the basics of the instrument-like keeping time, maintaining groove, and making it sound good. It's easy to jump into complex stuff, but if you lose sight of the fundamentals, the instrument it won't sound as it should.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

Each instrument has its own challenges. Besides drums, I play a bit of acoustic guitar and piano. Drumming requires a lot of work on coordination and hand technique to make the instrument sound right, which can be quite challenging.
  • What are your keys to success?

There are no secret formulas. I stay professional, take my work seriously, and respect the art of playing and teaching drums. Additionally, I make sure to keep up with the latest developments in drumming and music.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favorite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

I would love to meet John Bonham, Tony Williams, or Elvin Jones. Although they are no longer with us, their contributions to music were immense, and their influence on drumming is legendary.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

During my time at Berklee College of Music, I spent long hours practicing, especially in the winter. It was a fantastic experience living, studying, and playing music outside my home country, while also being exposed to so many different cultures. This experience changed the way I approached my career, and it helped me learn valuable lessons that I now pass on to my students, helping them find shortcuts in their own musical journeys.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I maintain an attentive posture with my students, focusing on personalizing my teaching approach to meet their individual needs. I aim to provide specific guidance that will help each student grow in their own unique way on the instrument.
