Hello, my name is Ben Brown, I am 22 and have recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Music and specialize in drums, hand percussion and composition/theory. Please visit my website at (concealed information)

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

As part of my drums/percussion teaching, I teach key subjects such as: technique, reading, coordination, obtaining a good 'feel' and improvisation. As part of my theory/composition teaching I teach all key subjects and approaches to enable you to gain a full understanding of both areas. I can teach any age from a beginner to an advanced level in any style.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

Jazz Percussion from Royal Academy of Music - 1st BMus
Grade 8 Drums: Distinction

- How much do you charge?

£30 an hour. I may ask for a little more for travel costs if it far for me to travel, but this is unlikely.

- Where do you teach?

I teach at a number of different students' houses as well as occasionally teaching in music workshops at community centres etc.

- When are you available?

I am usually quite flexible with my hours.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

Any age from beginner to advanced levels.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

Generally, I consider instrumental teaching much more effective when not simply using grade books, at least initially. My approach gives a considerably more rounded, extensive style of learning. Having said that, once a student is ready to take grades, then I encourage this. This approach has lead to consistently high scores when the grades are then taken. In the past, I have had a number of students work through drum grade books, and also one student who went to music college.

- Do you have a personal message for students?
