About Kalim
My name is Kalim Bartlett and I’m an experienced Creative Arts Practitioner teaching Beatboxing (a form of rhythmical vocalisation where you make drum patterns with your voice), African Body-Percussion (a form of dance, also called 'Step-Dance' where individuals and groups perform dances creating percussive beats through stamping the floor and using their body as a drum-kit) and Drama. I have recently begun to teach the skill of using a Loop-machine, and this exciting new method of creating music is well liked by young people as it incorporates beatboxing, singing, rap, harmonies, volume dynamics, vocalisation, technical and performance skills and the confidence to perform original ideas.

My teaching method is to help develop musical capacity and oracy expertise with the young people, whilst exploring the theme of creativity through the arts. Alongside being a professional beatboxer I’m also a music producer, rapper and body percussionist. I’m also an ardent YouTuber and Vlogger who frequently posts interesting content to social media. Such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. If chosen I would use the art of beatboxing, music production/Sound Design/looping and spoken word poetry to accompany the young people to use digital music technology in a fun and dynamic way. I will give the young people total autonomy over the project whilst overseeing and accompanying their progress. A final conclusion for this would be for the young people to develop a stronger sense of self-esteem, and wellbeing whilst empowering them to use digital technology independently after the project has finished.
