About Darcy
Hi,
My name is Darcy and I have been teaching life sciences for 5 years at various public school districts and have realized the many challenges that students from all walks of life face when learning science. Due to family concerns - I have had to move around quite a bit, therefore, I have taught in a central Texas school district as well as a north Texas school district. I am also a mother and have seen first hand as both a mother and a teacher how challenging learning science can be. I am not only passionate about teaching having students be awestruck with the living natural world around them, but I myself am just as amazed with it every day. Bringing up a couple of interesting 'did you know' facts about nature is just something I like to do at the dinner table and I love to see the amazement in children's faces while they ask 'How did they do that?' or 'How does that happen?' Well, let's dive in and explore how things happen in the natural world!

The two concepts that play a major role in the biological sciences include the structure and function of living systems as well as variation among living systems. It is these two concepts that I intend on focusing on with my students. Exploring levels of organization is a key foundational element in biological sciences and applying this knowledge in assignments will be an element of my teaching that I intend on emphasizing with my students.
We will pair up and maybe use pear deck to make sure you understand some basic vocabulary. We will build from previous lessons and spiral recently taught information. You will understand the basic vocabulary before we talk biological processes and other necessary processes. In just a few weeks you'll be communicating like a well versed college student that has taken a couple of years of biology courses!
