I teach history lessons from senior phase to FET phase (grade 7 to 12). I base my history lessons on the concept of decolonization. It is important that we learn African history that is decolonised and is written by African historians who identify with our struggles and success as per our history. In my lessons I provide learners with historical thinking skills which will change the way they read and write historical texts. My lessons are always linked to the impact of history on contemporary South Africa or any other country which we be focusing on. Like any other discipline, studying history consists of skills that allow us to see the world as a product of past events. So my lessons are always fun and relatable. It is time to see history as more than just the past but as an interpretation of past events that still affect us and will continue to.
