About Ledia

I’m an award-winning teacher and economist with nearly a decade of experience teaching and tutoring economics, mathematics, and statistics. I formerly served as a Teaching Fellow at the London School of Economics, where I used to teach econometrics to postgraduate students and core undergraduate modules including Econometrics I (EC2C3) and Econometrics: Theory and Applications (MG205).

I received the LSE Class Teacher Award for exceptional student feedback in the 2022/23 academic year. My academic background includes a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics (cum laude) from the American University in Bulgaria and an MSc in International Economics from the University of Geneva.

Outside my formal teaching roles, I have been a teaching assistant at Sciences Po and Oxford, and I’ve supported students from top UK universities including UCL, Warwick, Bath, Edinburgh, City, Royal Holloway, and others.

My tutoring spans everything from IGCSE and A-Level Mathematics to university-level modules in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and international trade among others. What drives my teaching is a commitment to clarity, structure, and student confidence.
Whether I’m explaining quadratic equations or advanced regression techniques, my goal is to make technical material intuitive and manageable while providing a supportive environment where tutee feels challenged and encouraged.

Selected Student Feedback:

“That was an incredible session that boosted my confidence!”

“Our exam results are staggeringly good.”

“I scored 79 and 80 in MA207 and ST201 — couldn’t do it without your help.”

“Thank you for your help on my thesis — I received an A.”

“I’m really pleased by how I performed in the exam — thank you for all the revision sessions.”

When you learn with me, my aim is to make even the most technical material feel intuitive, structured, and fully within your reach. I’m an award-winning teacher and economist with nearly a decade of experience teaching and tutoring economics, mathematics, and statistics.

I have formerly taught at graduate level econometrics modules at the London School of Economics, where I was honoured to receive the LSE Class Teacher Award for exceptional student feedback in the 2022/23 academic year.

My academic journey includes a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from the American University in Bulgaria, an MSc in International Economics from the University of Geneva, and postgraduate Econometrics at LSE. Alongside my teaching at LSE and UCL, I’ve supported students at Sciences Po, Oxford, Warwick, Bath, Edinburgh, City, Royal Holloway, and many other top institutions. What You Can Expect in Your Sessions.

Whether you’re preparing for IGCSE or A-Level Maths, or working through university-level econometrics, statistics, linear algebra, optimisation, or quantitative modelling, I tailor lessons to your goals while helping you build genuine, long-lasting confidence.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

Besides mathematics, one of the subjects I enjoyed most in high school was economics. It had only just been introduced into the curriculum, so we studied it for just one year, but that year had a lasting impact.

I still remember the exact moment my curiosity was sparked. In one discussion, our teacher, Alma, showed us an extract from Shakespeare: “Neither a borrower, nor a lender be…” and asked us to analyse it from an economic perspective. That was the first time I realised that in economics, there are always two sides to every argument and I found that incredibly engaging.

I was also very fortunate to have inspiring teachers throughout school, which made learning enjoyable and naturally led me to consider teaching in the future. I began by helping friends with statistics during university, but my interest in tutoring fully developed in 2016, when I was encouraged by my mentor, Revi, to pursue it more seriously.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

In recent years, I have taught a wide range of subjects including mathematics, statistics, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and game theory. However, I have found myself specialising more and more in econometrics. What I enjoy most about econometrics is the variety it offers. Some parts are more mathematical, such as proving the properties of OLS, which can be technically challenging, but also very rewarding when students gain the confidence to solve problems independently.

Other parts are more applied, where we focus on understanding research design, interpreting results, and thinking critically about how models can be used in real-world contexts. These discussions are particularly valuable, as they allow students to connect theory with practice. If I had to pick something I enjoy slightly less, it would be when teaching becomes too procedural and students feel they need to memorise steps without understanding. That’s exactly what I try to move them away from.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I have been very fortunate to meet inspiring people at different stages of my life, and I try to take something valuable from each of them. My parents taught me that hard work and consistency always pay off. My mathematics teachers: Leonora, Desdemona, and Esat showed me that mathematics can be both enjoyable and meaningful. My economics teacher, Alma, remains a role model for how to engage students in a classroom. And my mentor, Revi, has encouraged me to take on new challenges, explore new topics, and grow both academically and professionally.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Every student processes information differently, so one of the most important qualities of a good tutor is the ability to adapt to each individual.

I also believe it is important to:

    - Be honest when you don’t know something
    - Ask questions rather than make assumptions
    - Create an environment where both tutor and student are learning together

Ultimately, good tutoring is not just about explaining content. Good tutoring in my opinion is about understanding how the student learns and supporting them accordingly.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One thing I have observed over time is how much the teaching of econometrics has evolved. When I was a university student, econometrics was often taught as a short, standalone module. Today, it is integrated across many areas of economics, which reflects how central it has become.

This shift has reinforced something I strongly believe: understanding the intuition behind methods is far more important than simply learning procedures. Students who develop that intuition tend to approach the subject with much more confidence.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

One of the challenges I have faced is realising that learning is never truly finished. Even when you feel comfortable with a topic, there is always a new perspective to discover, whether it is a deeper detail or a clearer way to explain it. That is why I believe it is important to remain open to continuously learning and refining your understanding.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I enjoy teaching very much, but I also believe it is important to have a balance.

I get easily excited by a good book, especially thrillers or slice-of-life stories, playing volleyball and refereeing (I am a certified Grade 4 Volleyball Referee), or learning a new language (my ultimate goal being speaking 10 languages fluently – already over halfway through). Each of these, in different ways, contributes to how I think and how I connect with students.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P)

I always try to bring a positive and encouraging energy into my sessions, especially for students who may feel intimidated by numbers. If I can help a student feel more confident, more comfortable, and even slightly more curious about the subject, then I consider that a success.
