About Lacy
I am an award-winning film composer, sound designer, and Ableton Live tutor based between Austin and New York City. My work focuses on creating immersive, cinematic sound worlds that blend composition, texture, and experimental production techniques. I have a strong background in writing music for film and media, which deeply informs my approach to teaching.
I specialize in helping students learn Ableton Live in a creative, intuitive way focusing on hands-on music-making from the very beginning. My teaching emphasizes sound design, experimentation, and using music theory as a practical tool rather than an academic constraint.
With a keen ear for detail and a focus on automation, texture, and sonic movement, I help students go beyond basic loops and start building expressive, fully formed tracks. My goal is to create a supportive space where students can develop confidence, explore their own sound, and learn to finish music they’re proud of.

I am an Ableton Live tutor and film composer specializing in creative, experimental music-making and sound design. My teaching focuses on building confidence through hands-on practice, using music theory as a practical tool rather than something abstract or intimidating. I help students learn by making real music from the very first lesson.
I also have a strong ear for sound design, which influences my teaching. I encourage students to think beyond composition and explore texture, space, and movement in sound especially through tools like automation, effects and layering to bring music to life.
My approach is structured but flexible, centered around creativity, curiosity and developing your own sound. I aim to create a supportive and patient environment where beginners feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and gradually building complete tracks with confidence.
