About Tim

I’m a professional record producer with many years of industry experience and a proud dad to one. Teaching saxophone to my child created an incredible connection and sparked a desire to share my day-to-day work as a producer — both to pass on knowledge and to be inspired by the way students are making music right now and how they see the world through sound. I love listening to music with people, experiencing how they hear it, and stepping into someone else’s sonic world. Music production is genuinely the greatest job in the world, and I’m passionate about helping more people understand how to get into it, develop their skills, and thrive creatively and professionally.

My approach to tutoring is practical, flexible, and shaped around real-world music-making rather than a fixed syllabus. Each lesson is tailored to what the student needs most at their current stage, whether that’s songwriting development, production refinement, mixing techniques, or understanding how to run effective creative sessions. Lessons typically last around an hour and are structured around hands-on work using the student’s own projects wherever possible. Sessions may include critical listening, songwriting and arrangement polishing, mixing tips and workflows, industry tricks of the trade, and guidance on creating a professional yet comfortable studio atmosphere. I also cover how to run sessions with other musicians and writers, practical studio etiquette, and budgeting or planning where relevant. I don’t teach DAWs from scratch, so students are expected to be comfortable in their chosen software, allowing lessons to focus on creative decision-making, sound, workflow, and professional standards rather than technical basics. My teaching methodology is adaptable — whether a student needs traditional music theory, alternative songwriting approaches, beat-making techniques, or creative ways to navigate not playing instruments, the lesson bends to what will be most useful. I work comfortably across genres including hip hop, UK dance, folk, alternative pop and indie. I am an award-winning, chart-topping producer, writer, mixer and multi-instrumentalist with over 15 years of professional experience, LCM-trained, formerly signed to Sony as an artist, with three number-one records, over 40 million streams, and credits across every major label. I’ve worked with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Jamie Lawson, Songer, D Double E and many others, and teach from a fully equipped professional studio in Twickenham, West London. While live drum recording isn’t available on site, I’m able to teach real-world recording and engineering techniques in depth. Lessons are best suited to intermediate to advanced students, including emerging artists, producers and songwriters, as well as older teenagers and adults who are serious about developing their craft and working at a professional level.
