About Khayla
I am a BFA Graduate currently teaching K-12 Visual arts at project-based private school in Atlanta Georgia. I have been teaching art for over 4 years but practicing and producing art since I was in grade school, I have also worked for a non-profit outreach museum and assisted in the insulations and day to day operations within a professional gallery. I have attended a magnet fine arts high school moving on to graduate from Columbus State University with a BFA in sculpture. Many of my previously tutored students have approached me in hopes of preparing themselves for auditions to magnet or privately owned artistic institutions. My areas of strength are fundamentals in drawing, painting (acrylic and oil), sculpture, and college prep for artistic/liberal arts institutions and portfolio preparation.

Approach: I approach eat student with a basic assessment of their current level of artistic ability by reviewing previous drawing, sketches, paintings, or anything created by the artist.
Goals: We will discuss goals and what each student hopes to achieve within their time with me whether it be simple (learn to sketch, understanding basics, learning a new medium) or professionally based (college admissions, career knowledge, auditions/acceptance for specific schools).
Curriculum: The assignments or drawing/painting practices will be a mix of each student's interest and relevant goals as well as a mix of coursework and assignments utilized from the high school curriculum I teach daily.
I plan to meet each student where they are as well as encourage their talents and help them grow at their own pace. I also try my best to steer the curriculum in a way that supports practice and exploration outside of our time together so that when they may decide to move on from our sessions they feel prepared to grow on their own.
