About Alastair
I'm Alastair and I graduated in 2025 from Sydney Grammar School. I received an ATAR of 99.7 and achieved a state rank 1 in geography with a mark of 99. I also scored 99 in Math Adv, 96 in Math Ext 1 and Modern History, and a 94 in Physics.
As a tutor I'm flexible to different learning styles that suit you best. I thoroughly enjoy working with people and look forward to building an approachable and friendly relationship that best facilitates learning. I believe in strong communication and will ensure students and parents stay fully aware of academic progress, and I'm very happy to address any questions whenever need be.

Geography
Success in geography is dependent both on knowledge and on answering technique. When tutoring geography, I’ll work closely to broaden an understanding of the content points, including case studies. I’ll also guide you through and tie content methods to answer essay and short answer questions, through band 6 essay structures, custom written practice questions, and example responses. This includes essays, short answer, and source material. I also offer help for skills, an important part of all geography exams throughout high school.
Maths and Physics
My tutoring style is driven by a focus on underlying concepts, with clear explanations and links to exam-style questions. I'll guide you through the course content but also provide step-by-step support for challenging questions, and my emphasis on practice questions helps to develop efficient problem-solving techniques.
