About Lilian
I am a certified teacher of Visual Arts and AP Art History I graduated in 2020 with my B.F.A. in Painting, and my Minor in Education. Since then, I have earned a teaching certification in Art (EC-12) and 3 years of experience in teaching Art (beginning, intermediate, and advanced) and Art History at the high school level. I've been drawing since 5th grade and took my first art class in 12th grade. Now, as an educator, I'm a firm believer in art as a form of conceptualization and communication.

I'm an artist and a certified educator who's happy to tailor my instruction to your own personal needs, interests, and skill level! Whether you're starting with stick figures or polishing your portfolio, I'm here to help you harness your full creative potential and explore new modes of self-expression from abstraction to photorealism!
My classes are well-suited for ages 12+. I'm experienced in teaching Art 1, drawing, painting, digital art, and AP Art History.
My preferred tools of the trade include: paint, graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, ink, chalk and oil pastels, watercolor, or a combination (usually not all of them)! For digital work, I prefer Procreate or Photoshop.
Rather than a "step-by-step" approach, I teach students to develop their own individual processes, styles, and ideas by guiding them through the completion of open-ended projects. I do my best to create fun lessons that promote visual literacy, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.

Perfect! My first art lesson with Lilian was absolutely fantastic! We jumped right into discussing my goals and plans with drawing. After she gauged my level and interest, I told her there was a specific famous person I wanted to draw, and she immediately shared her screen and we went through google images looking for a picture that I liked. Once we selected one, she edited the composition to my liking, turned it black and white, and even put a grid on it - and off we went. I was surprised that she had her drawing gear prepared to demonstrate how to draw and I followed along. During our session, Lilian provided constructive feedback that elevated my work. She pinpointed areas for improvement without ever dampening my enthusiasm. If you’re seeking an art tutor who combines expertise with empathy, look no further than Lilian.
