About Amelia
I have teaching experience in all age groups from K-12 education to college-level students. I have spent the last 5 years teaching in an advanced art program to high school students including a Photoshop certification program during the summer. Through this program, my students had free choice within the subject and mediums they wanted to work with. So, on any given day I was teaching digital, traditional, or 3-dimensional lessons. I have also adjuncted as an instructor teaching introductory design classes at university that cover Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. I am currently teaching K-4 regular art enrichment while I pursue my MFA in graphic design. My passion is creating, so I don't necessarily focus on one type of medium. I often explore new ways of creating and teach myself new skills in my free time. I also find ways of repurposing and recycling to not only save money but also reuse resources that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Teaching being my second passion, I love helping others discover the creativity within themselves and helping them succeed in their own goals.

Like with anything you want to get good at, art and design take consistent practice. And though they are challenging subjects, there is always more than one way to do something. Because of my teaching background, I can demonstrate multiple ways to reach your goal and also adapt to meet you where you are at your present skill level no matter your age. I can teach you foundational skills that build upon each other as you advance in your practice no matter the medium (realism, character design, drawing, painting, illustration, mixed media, linocut printmaking, Procreate, Photoshop, Illustrator). If you are ready to take on art and design as an exciting challenge, I can definitely guide you in exercising your creative muscles, growing not only as an artist but a well-rounded individual with a stronger ability to problem solve and create original work.

Details
The free lesson is meeting up to 45 minutes to discuss your goals for future lessons whether it is for a single project or 5+ lessons. I prefer to conduct this through video chat if possible. You can opt out of this complimentary meeting if you would rather jump in, I just need a few details to plan. I supply student grade materials and if painting is involved, it is on canvas board. Students may supply their own canvas or supplies if they wish. If you are interested in printmaking, please inquire about possible additional costs. The hourly rate is for one person lessons, but I am happy to do small groups (2-15 people) as well at a different rates. I am willing to travel to meet at your home or public space where there is adequate room to conduct a lesson, like the library or a coffee shop. Travel fee may apply depending on distance.
