I will bring hard work, dedication, and commitment not only to this position but to you, my students. Working in an inner-city school district I have learned the value of inclusiveness, diversity, and real-world experience in a classroom. I strive to make art applicable to a wide audience through interdisciplinary strategies and integrated educational approaches.
My goal when tutoring, is to provide enriched opportunities for my students’ daily lives and also help them see the value of art for the rest of their lives.

As a teacher, it is essential to construct goals that inspire students to achieve. Teaching is not just about instructing; it is also about facilitating growth, inspiration, and a desire for a continuation of learning. Working in an inner city district, I have come to understand that school may be the only place where students are provided with structure. Education may be the only way out of my students' current situation. I have found that by maintaining high expectations and providing students with the means to achieve these goals, students recognize the power they harness and willingly rise to meet these achievements time and time again.
As both an artist and an educator, I strive to bring the outside world into the studio or classroom. In each lesson, I attempt to demonstrate how our lived experiences can be fuel for creativity. While skill building and maintaining a studio practice is essential for artists; I also understand that some students taking drawing and painting courses are not looking to excel in that specific field but rather are seeking to broaden their educational experience. My goal is to foster creativity and provide my students with the skill set to do something with that creativity. I attempt to make art applicable to students’ daily lives. With every lesson, I demonstrate how the process of creating art can change the way we see the world around us. I believe it is with this mindset that both creating and experiencing art can become inclusive rather than exclusive.
