About Orla
My interest in Architecture started with an appreciation for how space, form, and function interact to shape human experience. This passion led me to earn a B.Arch and an M.Arch in Urban Design, where I explored both creative and technical aspects of architecture. Over 9 years of teaching, I have mentored students of varying skill levels, helping them develop visual communication abilities, conceptual clarity, and confidence in design.
I emphasize patience, adaptability, and individualized attention in my teaching. Many learners struggle with balancing creativity and structure, so I focus on providing clear frameworks while encouraging experimentation and personal expression. Lessons include step-by-step guidance, critique, and iterative improvement to build both skills and confidence.
Beyond teaching, I engage with architecture through sketching, sustainable design studies, and professional project analysis. These activities inform my lessons and bring practical insight into the classroom. Teaching Architecture is deeply rewarding because I witness learners evolve from uncertainty to confident designers capable of communicating their ideas effectively.

Architecture lessons become meaningful when students understand how ideas evolve into functional and aesthetically compelling spaces. My lessons focus on spatial reasoning, form development, materials understanding, and visual representation, encouraging learners to think critically and creatively about design. Each session balances conceptual discussion, sketching exercises, and model development to build both technical competence and creative confidence.
Lesson structure is customized to the learner’s experience level. Beginners explore foundational drawing skills, basic composition, and conceptual idea-building. Intermediate learners advance into model making, architectural representation, and understanding materials and structural logic. Advanced learners refine portfolio development, design presentation, and project conceptualization, integrating aesthetic and technical considerations. Every lesson incorporates critique, iterative improvement, and thoughtful reflection to strengthen design thinking.
Architecture lessons also foster transferable skills such as observation, problem-solving, and effective communication.
