About Peter
Are you an architecture student looking to better understand how your design ideas can be developed into clear, practical and buildable projects?
I’m an experienced architect and architectural technologist based in London, with a particular interest in building technology, construction detailing, materials, timber construction, sustainability and working with existing buildings.
I have degrees in both Architecture and Architectural Technology and have worked in a range of architectural practices, from larger international studios to smaller design-led practices. I’m also a Director of Studio-P, a London-based architectural practice working on residential, commercial and heritage projects in the UK and internationally.
My professional experience covers architectural design, technical development, construction detailing, consultant coordination and project delivery, including extensive experience through Stages 4 and 5. Alongside practice, I have several years’ experience tutoring architecture students Design Realisation at MArch at the University of Greenwich.
I particularly enjoy helping students understand the connection between design and construction – how materials, structure, details and building techniques can work together to support and strengthen an architectural idea.
I also work as a specialist architectural consultant on the conservation and restoration of historic buildings, particularly in East Africa, giving me experience with traditional materials, construction techniques and the challenges of working with existing buildings.

The first lesson is an opportunity to get to know you, understand your project and find out what you would like to achieve. Every student and every project is different, so I tailor the lessons to your individual needs rather than following a fixed approach.
Perhaps you have a design that you are struggling to turn into a construction detail, you’re unsure how your wall or roof build-up should work, or you simply want to develop a better understanding of how buildings are put together. We can work through these issues together, using your own project as a starting point.
I can help you understand how materials, structure and construction come together, and how technical decisions can support and strengthen your architectural ideas. We can look at details, junctions, material choices and building assemblies, considering not only how they should be drawn, but how they would actually work and be constructed.
I also want lessons to be practical and useful. We can sketch details together, review your drawings, work through problems or develop ideas from scratch. We can also look at presentation and drawing techniques to help you communicate your ideas clearly and confidently.
