About Irini
I am a Registered Architect-Engineer (ARB) University Tutor and Researcher with more than twenty years of experience, spanning architectural practice, urban design, research and higher education. Having worked as a researcher and university tutor at both UCL, Bartlett and Loughborough University, as well as a consultant within professional architectural practice, I bring together both academic and professional perspectives on architecture and urban design.
I believe that architecture is not only about designing buildings but also about critically engaging with people, place, history, culture and the wider built environment. Understanding these relationships enables students to develop richer and more meaningful design responses.
I teach because I am passionate about helping students develop confidence in their ideas and become independent thinkers. My aim is not to provide ready-made solutions but to help students build the confidence and skills needed to develop their own design ideas, research projects and academic assignments.
Whether you are preparing an architecture school portfolio, working on a challenging design studio or writing a dissertation, I will work with you to develop a deeper understanding of the subject and help you achieve your goals with confidence.

I aim to develop independent thinking and confidence in design and to strengthen their critical thinking, design skills and academic abilities. Rather than providing answers, I guide students through a structured process that helps them build confidence and become independent learners.
Every lesson is tailored to students' individual needs and university requirements. Sessions may include design critiques and project reviews, portfolio development, support with essays and dissertations, academic writing and research methods, architectural history and theory, development of critical thinking and design concepts, preparation for reviews, exams and final submissions. Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although extended 90-minute or two-hour sessions can be arranged for intensive project support, dissertation and portfolio review.
Drawing on over twenty years of experience in architectural practice, research in urban studies and university teaching in highly esteemed UK universities, I help students connect theory, history, research and design into a coherent way of thinking. My background includes tutoring and research positions at UCL Bartlett and Loughborough University, consultancy work and professional architecture practice in the UK and Greece.
The lessons are addressed to students at a range of levels, including those preparing architecture school applications and portfolios, undergraduate and postgraduate students in Architecture and Architectural Engineering, Urban Design, Planning and related disciplines, as well as dissertation and thesis students and mature students returning to higher education. I aim to support each student in reaching their immediate academic goals while developing the critical, analytical and professional skills that will be valuable throughout their professional career.
