About Meryem
My name is Meryem and I am the founding director of Beny Architects, based in Casablanca, Morocco.
My education comprises a BA in Architecture from Central Saint Martins and a Master’s Degree in Urban Design and Computational Design from Oxford Brookes University.
My professional experience comprises a wide range of international commissions which integrate information design, architecture and urbanism. Before founding Beny Architects, I held the position of Architectural Designer for Omar Alaoui in collaboration with Zaha Hadid Architects and closely collaborated with the team of ZHA on the Grand Theatre de Rabat in Morocco.
I joined Quad Studio in Hong Kong in 2018 and gained a great experience on megastructures, with projects in Shenzhen and other large scale developments across Hong Kong.
I was also involved in various projects in the Middle East and focused mainly on pedestrian strategies and public realm interventions with sites ranging from Dubai Expo 2020 to the regeneration of 12 neighbourhoods in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
I am very humbled to be the first and only Moroccan national to be an international chartered member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
