About Gilbert

Hey! I’m Gilbert, a PhD student at NTU exploring AI in data science. I’ve taught 50+ students in math, coding, and machine learning — from high schoolers to professional workers. My lessons are clear, hands-on, and filled with real-world examples from my work in tech - both corporate and startup environments. Whether you're just starting out or leveling up, I’ll guide you step-by-step in a fun, easy-to-follow way. Let’s code together!

My teaching philosophy blends foundational theory with real-world application. I believe in a stepwise progression where each concept builds logically upon the previous one, tailored to each student’s pace and level. My methodology includes:
- Hands-on coding with Python or R for beginner to intermediate levels, and real-world datasets in advanced training.
- Flipped classroom approach — students explore core ideas first, followed by in-depth discussion and applications during sessions.
- Regular quizzes and homework - workbooks and forms that you can access in order to understand better about the theory behind the codes.

A Typical Lesson Plan:
Each session ranges from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the level:
1. Warm-Up (5-10 mins)
2. Theory + Hands-On Practice (70-90 mins)
3. Wrap-Up + Homework Assignment (10-15 mins)

What Sets Me Apart:
- Real-world readiness: I incorporate industry-based use cases, including AI pipelines, data engineering, and model deployment strategies.
- Flexible structure: From beginners learning Excel to advanced learners interested in Large Language Models (LLMs), I offer tiered learning tracks.
- Custom resources: Handpicked books and notes, ranging from Sarah Guido’s Intro to ML with Python to Paul Iusztin’s LLM Engineer’s Handbook.
- Project-based outcomes: Students graduate with evaluation reports, real projects, and personalized learning paths.

Who Are These Lessons For?
Ideal for beginners or students in high school or early university with little or no coding background. These lessons are also designed for undergraduates or working professionals seeking hands-on understanding of data drifts, intermediate ML, and data preprocessing.
