About Pleun
Hi there, I’m Pleun! I’m a native Dutch speaker with a Master’s degree in Private Law from the University of Amsterdam.
I work with motivated adults and teenagers (12–18) who want to improve their Dutch in a clear, structured, and effective way. Whether your goal is to communicate confidently at work, perform better in school, or feel more natural in everyday conversations, I tailor each lesson to your level and goals.
With over two years of teaching experience, I focus on clarity, precision, and steady progress. My background in law has trained me to work with language in a structured and detailed way, and I bring that same approach into my lessons, while always keeping things practical and easy to follow.
For adults, lessons are goal-oriented and focused on real-life use. For teenagers, I create a focused but engaging environment so they stay motivated while building strong fundamentals.
We don’t just learn Dutch, we apply it, so you can actually use what you learn in real situations. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time outside, reading, and cooking. I like to bring that same calm and focus into my lessons.
My English is at C1 level, so I can clearly explain everything when needed.

My approach
I keep lessons practical, structured, and enjoyable. Dutch can seem complex at first, but with the right structure it becomes clear and manageable. Because of my background in law, I value precision. At the same time, I explain everything in plain, accessible language and use examples you can apply immediately. Each lesson is tailored to your personal goal. We focus only on what is relevant, so you learn Dutch that you will actually use in real life.
How we start
We begin with a short level assessment and a conversation about your goals. Based on this, I create a clear structure for your lessons. You will also get access to a shared document and Google Drive folder where you can find your notes, corrections, and key takeaways, all in one place.
What a typical 60-minute lesson looks like
Each lesson follows a clear structure to keep you focused and progressing:
• Short warm-up to get you speaking.
• One focused topic, such as word order or pronunciation.
• Guided practice with exercises and examples.
• Real-life application through conversation or scenarios Across each lesson, we naturally work on pronunciation, grammar, speaking, listening, writing, and vocabulary. After every lesson, you receive a clear vocabulary list to review and practice.

Perfect! Pleun is really an amazing teacher, she makes learning Dutch really fun, and not stressful at all. She is always willing to help with any questions i've had, and gives great tips for memorization. She is also very conversational, and nice to talk too!
