There is no failure. Only feedback
Once in tutoring in essay writing, a student wrote in the comments sections [paraphrased], ‘I really have been failing in my English class. I don’t think I’m cut out for this and don’t feel I will pass. I feel like a failure.’ A bad grade will do that to you. Help your student understand that there is no such thing as failure. There is only feedback and the opportunity to do better next time.
