About Rafael
I am an Aeronautical Engineering MEng student with a strong academic background in Mathematics and Physics, offering GCSE and A level tuition in London. I have several years of tutoring experience, supporting students across a range of abilities, from building core understanding to pushing high-achieving students towards top grades.
I have taught students from highly competitive schools, including Brighton College, Harris Westminster, Queen Elizabeth’s School (QE Boys), and other North West London secondary schools. Through this experience, I understand the level of depth, pace, and exam technique required for both state and independent school students aiming for top results.
My students typically see strong improvement in both understanding and exam performance, as I focus not only on explaining content clearly, but also on exam strategy, question breakdown, and avoiding common mistakes. I place a strong emphasis on structured revision, step-by-step problem solving, and building confidence under timed conditions.
I teach GCSE, IGCSE, and A level Mathematics and Physics across all major exam boards, including Edexcel, AQA, and OCR. I am familiar with the expectations of each specification and tailor lessons accordingly, whether the goal is to pass, secure a high grade, or prepare for competitive pathways.

As a tutor, I aim to create a structured and supportive learning environment where students actively engage with the material rather than passively follow it. My one-to-one sessions are interactive and focused, where we work through problems together, building both confidence and accuracy over time. The goal is to make students feel comfortable approaching complex questions without feeling overwhelmed.
As an engineering student, I approach teaching with strong attention to detail and a focus on logical thinking. I guide students step by step through concepts, ensuring they understand not just how to solve a problem, but why the method works. I also try to link topics to real-world applications, particularly in Physics and Mathematics, so students can see the value of what they are learning beyond exams.
Through my tutoring experience, I have seen that students who develop a deeper understanding of concepts and can connect ideas across topics perform with much greater confidence in exams. Because of this, I prioritise clarity and understanding over memorisation, while still ensuring students are fully prepared for exam-style questions and mark scheme expectations.

I tailor each session accordingly, combining explanation, guided practice, and independent work.
I teach GCSE and A level Mathematics and Physics, and I am familiar with the structure and expectations of the main exam boards including Edexcel, AQA, and OCR. Lessons often include targeted practice from past papers, topic-focused revision, and support with homework, mocks, and upcoming exams.
