  • 1. Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Music has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was fascinated by the soulful sounds of the flute, and my journey began with self-learning. However, it was my brother's guitar playing that initially sparked my interest in music. As I delved deeper, I discovered the world of Hindustani classical music and was captivated by the beauty of the Bansuri flute. Under the guidance of renowned gurus like Pandit Man Singh ji, Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasiya ji, and Pandit Hari Prasad Paudyal ji, I refined my skills and developed a profound appreciation for the art form. With 13 years of experience in music, I've had the privilege of performing globally, teaching students from diverse backgrounds, and exploring various instruments like Sitar, guitar, Tabla, and harmonica.
  • 2. What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

My journey as a teacher began during the pandemic when students approached me after listening to my flute playing. It was a turning point for me, and I realized the impact music could have on people's lives. My guru, Pandit Man Singh ji, played a significant role in shaping my understanding of music, and I wanted to pass on that knowledge to others. Teaching allows me to share my passion, nurture talent, and inspire students to explore the world of music. Seeing my students grow and flourish under my guidance is incredibly fulfilling.
  • 3. How does your work help society?

Music has the power to transcend boundaries and bring people together. As a music professor and performer, I aim to promote cultural awareness, appreciation, and preservation. By teaching students from various backgrounds, I'm contributing to the next generation of music enthusiasts and artists. My performances and workshops also help to promote the rich heritage of Indian classical music, fostering a sense of community and cultural exchange.
  • 4. If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasiya ji is a legendary figure in the world of Hindustani classical music, and his contributions to the Bansuri flute are unparalleled. His dedication, passion, and artistry have been a constant source of inspiration for me. Having had the privilege of learning from him, I'm deeply influenced by his approach to music and his commitment to nurturing talent.
  • 5. Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Outside of music, I'm passionate about staying fit and healthy through regular workouts, gym sessions, and yoga. Biking is another adventure I thoroughly enjoy, and I'm part of a biking group that shares my love for exploration and freedom. These activities help me maintain a balanced lifestyle, recharge my energy, and stay focused.
  • 6. Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

One memorable experience that stands out is when I was invited as the chief guest to my own school. Seeing the students' excitement and hearing their stories about how music had impacted their lives was truly humbling. It was a testament to the power of music to inspire and transform lives. Moments like these remind me of the importance of my work and motivate me to continue sharing my passion with others.
