About James

I provide neuroscience-informed ADHD and autism study support for students and adults who struggle with planning, organisation, overwhelm, motivation, structure and maintaining consistent study routines.

Alongside undergraduate training in neuroscience, a 20-year psychiatric nursing background and postgraduate vocational rehabilitation training, I also have lived experience of neurodivergence myself. This means I understand both academically and personally how fluctuating attention, overwhelm, anxiety, executive dysfunction and burnout can impact education, confidence and daily functioning over time.

My approach combines academic mentoring, practical structuring support and functional guidance tailored to the individual. The first session focuses on understanding your current difficulties, strengths and goals in order to build an appropriate support structure. Strategies are then reviewed and adapted over time as study demands and functional needs change.

Support may include planning systems, reducing overwhelm, assignment structuring, study routines, accountability and practical strategies designed to improve consistency and reduce stress.

Students also gain access to a growing library of educational and neuroscience-informed resources and articles to support ongoing learning and self-understanding.

I provide neuroscience-informed ADHD and autism study support for students and adults who struggle with planning, organisation, overwhelm, motivation, structure, executive functioning and maintaining consistent study routines.

My approach combines academic mentoring, practical structuring support and functional guidance tailored to the individual. Sessions are collaborative and adaptive, recognising that neurodivergent needs often change depending on stress, workload, environment and energy levels.

The first session focuses on building an understanding of your current difficulties, strengths, goals and support needs. From there, strategies and support structures are reviewed and refined over time to help create sustainable systems that work in real life, not just in theory.

I have undergraduate training in neuroscience, a 20-year psychiatric nursing background, and postgraduate vocational rehabilitation training with experience understanding the impact of anxiety, depression, executive dysfunction and severe mental health difficulties on daily functioning and education.

Support may include:
• planning and organisation systems
• reducing overwhelm
• task initiation strategies
• structuring assignments and revision
• study routines and accountability
• emotional impact of academic stress
• support navigating functional difficulties affecting education

Students also gain access to a growing library of educational and neuroscience-informed resources and articles to support ongoing learning and self-understanding.

Lessons are suitable for older teenagers, university students and adults seeking specialist neurodivergent-friendly academic and functional support.
