About Randall
I am nearing the end of my second year as a masters student in music composition and have been teaching sight singing, aural skills, and music theory as a graduate teaching assistant for the past three semesters. I have also directed and assistant-directed my school’s Group for Experimental Music and secured funding through university grants for two extra-curricular projects. My specialty as a teacher is helping students who struggle to gain confidence and develop the skills they need to do what they love to do.

There are a lot of musicians and music teachers out there for whom things came easily. They might have perfect pitch or their brains are just wired differently. I’m not one of those people. I’ve had to work extremely hard to develop my skills, my ear, and my musical intuition. I’ve had to overcome numerous challenges and understand what it takes to stick to a really difficult thing for years because you cant’t stop. I know how to teach eager, hard-working students who might have some kind of challenge that’s not their fault, because that’s who I am and I’ve been teaching myself for years! If you can’t imagine your life without making music, come learn with me. If you want to push your musical knowledge and intuition to new and exciting areas, I’m your guy. If you just need a refresher before your next semester of music theory, I do that, too! No challenge is to great and no status quo too old
