Public Speaking Tutoring 1hr sessions Any age! Public speaking is an essential skill for both children and adults. Any exercises stipulated below will be altered according to age. In our first session, we’ll work together to identify the specific challenges holding you back from reaching your full potential as a public speaker. Through a brief assessment, we’ll explore your strengths and areas for improvement, then tailor a plan with targeted exercises to enhance your technique. These exercises may include: Breathing Techniques: Exercises to release tension in your diaphragm, improve projection, and reduce nerves, ensuring a more grounded and confident delivery. Elocution Practice: Focused work on clarity, articulation, and pacing to make your speech easy to follow and impactful. Physical and Breathing Integration: Combining movement with breath control to align your body and voice, fostering a natural and engaging presence. Confidence Building: Improvisation-based exercises to push you out of your comfort zone, encouraging spontaneity and adaptability. Throughout, I emphasise practical strategies for managing nerves and building a commanding presence. My approach ensures that each session builds your confidence and skill, helping you connect with your audience authentically and effectively. Drama School Entrance Audition Preparation From ages 17 and up. 1hr sessions Personalised Approach In our first session, we will discuss the schools you’re applying to and review their specific requirements, ensuring your preparation aligns with what each institution is looking for. We’ll then begin selecting both contemporary and classical monologues from my curated catalogue. This process may take one to two sessions, as we work together to find pieces that best suit your casting type, abilities, and potential to stand out. Building Your Performance Once your monologues are chosen, we’ll use foundational Stanislavski techniques to explore and structure the text, including: Uniting: Breaking down the script into manageable sections to track the character's journey. Actioning: Identifying the intentions and actions behind each line to bring clarity and depth to your performance. Given Circumstances: Understanding the context and backstory to ground your interpretation. Sensory Imagination: Using vivid imagery and personal connection to bring authenticity to your portrayal. For classical pieces, I will guide you in mastering the rhythm and meaning of iambic pentameter, ensuring the text feels natural while honouring its structure. Refining and Directing From the third to sixth sessions, we’ll get your speeches up on their feet. I’ll direct you in finding dynamic ways to embody both the character and the text, incorporating physicality, voice, and emotion to create a fully realised performance. Polishing and Perfecting In the final sessions (sixth to tenth), we’ll focus on polishing your performance, using tailored exercises to refine your technique: Breathing Exercises: To release tension, enhance vocal projection, and ground your delivery. Vocal Warm-Ups: Including tongue twisters and diction exercises to improve clarity and articulation. Movement Integration: Techniques to align body and voice, ensuring a confident and engaging presence. Using Alexander Technique to do this. Flexible Timelines This ten-week structure is an example of how we might work together, but I’m flexible and can adapt the timeline and focus areas to suit your specific needs, whether you’re preparing for multiple auditions or focusing on a single application. My goal is to ensure you feel confident, prepared, and ready to showcase your unique talent to the audition panel.
