I have experience primarily tutoring elementary school children, and I pride myself on creating an engaging, enriching environment that makes the virtual classroom feel more personalized. I have helped many children grow their reading skills in a few short months and have worked as a tutor for socioeconomically challenged students since high school!
Lesson plans for me always include an icebreaker to make a student feel comfortable, reviewing topics covered in the previous tutoring session (if it's the first class, I gauge my understanding by asking the student what they love about the subject and what they wish to be better at; my philosophy is to never make a student feel that they are being tutored because they are "bad" at a subject, but rather because they are super awesome and want to become better!)
