About Faiq
I am currently an Accounting & Finance Diploma student and a former Pure History student who developed a strong interest in understanding how historical events are connected and how they shape the world today. During secondary school, I enjoyed learning History because it was not just about memorizing facts, but about understanding causes, consequences, and patterns across different periods.
I decided to teach History because I want to help students who may find the subject challenging or overwhelming, especially when it comes to SBQ and essay writing. I understand from experience that many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because they are unsure how to approach questions and structure their answers effectively.
My goal as a tutor is to make History more approachable, structured, and less stressful, while helping students improve their confidence and performance in exams. I want to share the strategies and understanding I gained as a student so others can perform better and feel more in control of the subject.

I believe effective tutoring is not about memorisation, but about helping students truly understand History in a way that makes exam application natural and confident. In my lessons, I break down historical events into clear, simple explanations so students can understand causes, effects, and key links between topics without feeling overwhelmed.
For skills development, I guide students step-by-step through Source-Based Questions (SBQ) and Structured Essay Questions (SEQ), showing them how to analyse sources, identify key evidence, and structure answers in a way that meets exam requirements. I place strong emphasis on applying relevant historical content, as this can help students strengthen their answers and access higher-level marks in both SBQ and essay components.
My teaching style is patient, structured, and highly personalised. I adapt each lesson based on the student’s needs — whether it is building foundational understanding, improving essay writing, or refining exam techniques. My goal is to make History feel less intimidating and more manageable, even for students who currently struggle.
As a current Accounting & Finance Diploma student and former Pure History student, I understand both the academic discipline required for learning and the demands of the O-Level History syllabus. This allows me to teach in a relatable and exam-focused manner, especially for Upper Secondary students.
Ultimately, my aim is to help students gain confidence, improve their grades, and develop the ability to approach History questions with clarity and structure.
