About Benjamin

Hi, I'm Benjamin. I am an English educator and academic writing coach dedicated to helping students build confidence and precision in their work.

I hold a Master of Arts in Literature and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Secondary English Instruction. My practical background is rooted in classroom student teaching, specialized fieldwork in literacy, and individualized one-on-one tutoring.

This hands-on experience has equipped me with the tools to adapt my instruction to fit a wide variety of learning styles. Whether I am helping a high school student analyze complex literature or guiding a university student through the structure of a research paper, my approach remains the same: I break down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps.

I believe that strong writing and reading comprehension are not just innate talents, but skills that can be mastered with structured guidance. My goal as your tutor is to provide a supportive, encouraging environment where we can work collaboratively to help you achieve your academic goals.

Hi, I'm Benjamin. My teaching philosophy is rooted in collaborative, interactive coaching. I work alongside my students to help them master the mechanics of academic writing and literature analysis in a clear, engaging way.

My Teaching Method & Techniques

I focus on the structural logic of a great essay. Whether we are analyzing a complex piece of literature, drafting a college admissions essay, or polishing a university research paper, I emphasize clear argumentation, thesis development, and rhetorical strategy. I help students move beyond simple summary and teach them how to organize their ideas with academic precision.

A Typical Lesson Plan

Review & Assess: We begin by reviewing your current draft, outline, or essay prompt to identify your specific goals.

Interactive Analysis: We break down the text together, looking at paragraph structure, transitions, and the strength of your evidence.

Targeted Revision: We work collaboratively to revise and refine the writing in real-time.

Actionable Takeaways: You leave with specific, actionable feedback and clear next steps for your writing process.

What Sets Me Apart

I hold an MA in Literature and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Secondary English Instruction. My practical background includes classroom student teaching, specialized literacy fieldwork, and individual tutoring. This combination of advanced subject-matter expertise and instructional training allows me to break down complex writing tasks into clear, manageable steps.

My lessons are tailored for:

High school students taking AP Literature, preparing for the Digital SAT reading/writing sections, or drafting college admissions essays.

University students who need high-level structural editing and guidance on research papers or literature essays.

Adult learners and professionals who want to refine their written communication and editing skills.

I look forward to helping you build confidence in your writing and achieve your academic goals.
