About Penelope
I am currently a sophomore at the University of Northern Iowa, majoring in elementary education and minoring in K-12 special education (instructional strategist II). I have done one practicum teaching placement where I wrote and taught multiple lessons to small groups of students receiving pull-out special education services. I have taken numerous classes covering both teaching and creating lessons and I feel confident in supporting students in their learning.
I have worked as a paraeducator for high school students for the last two years, giving me a large amount of experience in adapting how I teach to support various students' needs and learning styles.
I have also worked as a respite caregiver for the past 4 years, providing me with insight into working with and best supporting children and teenagers with disabilities.

I am able to provide tutoring for any subject at any elementary grade-level, and would plan my lessons around family and student needs. My strengths are in teaching writing, reading, spelling, and phonics. I have most of my experience working with (elementary and high school) special education students and believe that adapting lessons and how I teach to match each students needs is incredibly important.
