About Carlos
Hello, I’m Carlos! I’m 20 years old, and have been working with computer programming since late 2014. I've earned my Associate's in CyberSecurity from Pikes Peak State College. I’ve helped design hobby games and projects with friends, and I’ve helped set up secure medical systems for breast cancer screening.
I work extremely well with students interested in computer science, but I also work well with students who think in unique ways in general. Me and my brother are both autistic, and I’ve taught myself ways to study and succeed that most people don’t consider. My goal is to share this knowledge and support with anyone who needs help.
I have several months of professional tutoring experience in many different subjects. I’ve guided many students through standardized tests, such as the SAT or HiSET. I’ve also helped students struggling with computer science, math, science, and essay writing. I do well with students who have special needs, since I can relate well with students who have autism or ADHD. No matter the student, I guide everyone from start to finish in a custom and welcoming way, where no one is forced to follow a rigid learning style.
My students are typically between 11 and 16 years old, but I do well with older students as well. I’ll also do well with younger students who are more polite and/or mature. Every session starts with what’s on the student’s mind, good or bad. I want each session to be welcoming, where students look forward to learning something new. I use lots of analogies and vivid imagery to make sure knowledge truly sticks. Students are free to reach out at any time if they need help, and I respond very quickly most of the time.

I keep a close connection between students and parents to make sure all needs are met. I'll go over any homework, makeup tests, study skills, and anything else that needs discussion. I do especially well with students who need reasonable help that a school district fails to provide.
