About Pam

My name's Pam and I'm an English language teacher based in Glasgow with over 20 years' teaching experience.

I have a Diploma in TESOL and a Master’s in Education, and I teach international students preparing for undergraduate and postgraduate study in the UK.

My areas of tutoring expertise include:
• Academic writing and presentation skills
• Developing critical reading skills
• Assignment support (essays, literature reviews, research reports, reflective writing)
• IELTS exam preparation
• Time management and organisation
• Research skills

About the lesson

I tailor each session by firstly understanding what your goals are and the areas you wish to focus on. That could be structuring an essay, building an argument or improving your use of academic language and style.

If you are looking for specific assignment support, I can help to break down assignment guidance, understand marking criteria, or research and plan your assignment effectively. I can also provide targeted IELTS Exam preparation and strategies needed to achieve your target band score.

I have also taught project and dissertation support workshops at university and can guide students through the process of a larger-scale project.

The students that I work with often feel unsure about where to begin, but leave with a clear plan, practical strategies that they can take forward, and a greater confidence in their academic abilities.

I worked with Pam for a 10 year period at the University of Stirling. As a colleague Pam was very diligent and organised within academic English. For her students she provided a calm, effective, motivated, and empathetic approach to teaching. Pam and I worked on varying aspects of postgraduate teaching and module coordination (myself is psychology). I would recommend her academic skills as both a team member and teacher. She has great communication skills and importantly listens to students, providing clear planning and study skills support.
