About Riya
I am a chemical engineer and have 1 year of work experience in the glass industry as a product manager. I worked at Asahi India Glass Ltd. which is a subsidiary of AGC Japan - world's largest Glass Manufacturing company. I have also casually worked as an assistant chemistry tutor to high school students in India and helped them prepare for the competitive exams. My extensive interest in the resources sector and urge to learn more made me enrol into a Master's program at Curtin University.

A friendly atmosphere always makes students more comfortable and open to asking questions which not only enhances learning but also actively engages the mind to think of different possibilities. So, a brief introduction of myself and the students always acts as the Ice- breaker and opens communication.
I believe that every student has their own method and time of grasping and learning and so I have adopted to first give a brief introductory lecture of the topic to give students the general idea of why learning this topic is worth their hardwork and where they can apply it. Following which is a discussion session or interactive quizzes for my better understanding of the students comprehension and learning pace. It helps me modify and adjust to their pace so that they can absorb the maximum from my lessons. My methodology of teaching is by sharing practical and real life examples to enhance the retention capacity of students. I encourage my students to create a mental image of the scenario or problem and work on to find the optimal solution. Summarising the covered key points of the lessons and a quick recap of the previous lesson is a must for me. I regularly conduct performance analysis of my students by quizzes and tests which ultimately is an indicator of my performance as a tutor as well.
