About Maneli
Hello! My name is Manelli, and I’m passionate about helping students grow in their confidence and skills in English. With a strong academic background in psychology and education, I bring both knowledge and empathy to my work as a tutor. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Concordia University and I’m currently completing a DESS in intervention for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at UQAM. I’ve worked in diverse educational and clinical settings—as a tutor at Batshaw Youth and Family Centres, an ABA therapist at a specialized clinic, and an educator in early childhood environments. I’m also a research assistant at UQAM, contributing to a project on the effects of yoga in youth with ADHD, and have published in a peer-reviewed psychology journal. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of how to adapt my teaching to different learning styles, personalities, and goals. Whether you're a high school student working on grammar or an adult learner preparing for academic or professional English, I offer personalized support in a calm, encouraging environment. As an English tutor, my approach is centered on building confidence, clarity, and curiosity in my students. I believe that language learning is most effective when it is interactive, personalized, and rooted in real-life contexts. My teaching methodology combines communicative language teaching (CLT), task-based learning, and scaffolding techniques that adapt to each learner’s pace and needs.
A typical lesson begins with a warm-up to review previous material and set the tone for the session. I then introduce the day’s objective—whether it’s vocabulary expansion, grammar reinforcement, reading comprehension, or writing structure—through engaging texts or scenarios. Practice activities follow, with an emphasis on active participation, critical thinking, and immediate feedback. Each session ends with a short reflection and targeted exercises for independent work.
What sets me apart is my academic background in psychology and education, which allows me to understand the individual learning styles and emotional needs of my students. I am attentive, encouraging, and creative in how I present material. I strive to create a safe space where learners feel heard and supported, especially those who experience language anxiety or have unique learning profiles.
My English lessons are designed for children, high school and CEGEP students, university learners, and adults looking to improve academic or professional language skills. I also have experience working with neurodivergent students, including individuals with ADHD and autism, and I tailor lessons to suit their strengths and preferences.
