About Stephen
I am a 4th year Biology student from Leeds and am about to start my final year. I have been passionate about my love for Biology and nature since a young age and have been a mentor for university students since 2018 giving weekly sessions to support the learning of first year students helping them achieve their desired grades at university.
I achieved A* in Biology at both GCSE and A-Level (both with AQA) and my dedication to the subject has only increased as I have studied it at Uni.
I spent last year at the University of Calgary in Canada where on a year abroad where I took new classes I couldn't take in Leeds while being exposed to new methods of teaching and assessment, developing my knowledge of how students best learn

Being a student myself still I am fully aware of how difficult grasping concepts and learning can be! Students need concepts explained to them in a short and concise manner. I then encourage questions to be asked before setting questions and activities and working through problems with them.
The ability of a student to explain concepts back to me is a keystone of them understanding these concepts. They should be able to do my job by the end of the session!
I determine a students type of learning (e.g. visual, auditory, written) and tailor my lessons to their form of learning (e.g. providing visual demonstrations, written explanations etc.).
I also provide PDF notes that I have handmade to help understanding and to act as another form of notes to refer back to!

Perfect! Put my daughter at ease from the start and his enjoyment from the subject was clear to see, Stephen used the first session to find out the areas of improvement needed and created a plan moving forward .
