About Katie
Hi! I’m Katie. I have played the trumpet for 10+ years and I’m currently in my final year of Music and English joint honours degree. I would love to teach new students and current trumpet students!
Trumpet is a great versatile instrument to learn and it’s a really fun one to play.
I can use my experience as principal trumpet of Cardiff Uni Symphony Orchestra to help you with your classical trumpet needs.
I am the first female MD of Cardiff Uni Big Band and I have experience in jazz, directing and playing.
I am particularly interested in helping those who would not typically see themselves as being able to play trumpet - for example helping other women become confident in themselves as brass players!

I take a personal approach towards trumpet lessons. If you tell me what you would like to work on I can personalise and tailor the lessons for you!
Trumpet is a great instrument to pick up as it is so versatile! In one day you can be playing classical symphonies, jazz bands, funk collectives and brass bands!
I enjoy playing both classical and jazz and believe that trumpet players should be able to play both regularly without having to specialise. I understand that playing an instrument is often a mental game as much as a physical one and I am happy to tackle both approaches when teaching

Katie and I work together in a regularly performing jazz band. In the time I've know her she has proven to be consistently reliable, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Her passion for music is contagious and she has an incredible mastery of the trumpet. I can't recommend Katie enough, as a band member or as a teacher.
She is on time and has had many different teachers herself and that has given her a broad repertoire of skills to use with various students.
