About Abbie Leigh
I am originally from a working-class family, born and raised in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. From a fairly young age, I have been passionate about helping people in any way I can. This is reflected not only in my future career as a Doctor, but in my passion for helping enthusiastic young people get to where they want to be! Tutoring is perfect in allowing this fulfilment. Currently, I am entering my 3rd year (out of 6) studying Medicine at The University of Cambridge. Throughout my time at university I have been tutoring for A-Level Biology, which was my favourite subject at school! I would not be where I am today without help! Everybody needs help sometimes - asking for it is one of the most noble things that a person can do! If you have academic goals and aspirations - you can achieve them!

I provide online 1-1 lessons via Zoom/Teams, using an interactive whiteboard. This allows myself and my student to contribute to illustrations and diagrammatic representations throughout the session. I find this helps in ensuring a student has understood and can ask any questions they may have! Offering flexibility in my teaching is very important to me as I believe each student's individual needs must be taken into consideration. I believe that developing a teacher-student rapport and understanding learning strategies is key to ensuring success! This is my priority. My Experience!: For the past 2 years I have been tutoring an A-level student, predominantly in A-Level Biology. This student is now predicted an A* and has applied for Medicine (2024 entry). This student has received offers to study at UCL and Exeter. From March - May I tutored a Y11 student for GCSE Chemistry double award. This student is aiming for a grade 5 and will receive their results in August. Lesson length: 1-2 hours (can be longer on request). Short-term and Long-term tuition can be offered. 5hr or 10hr lesson packs - cheaper hourly rate. My teaching is aimed at Y10-Y11 (GCSE) or sixth form Y12-Y13 (A-Level), or adults who are studying for qualifications up to and including level 3 (e.g. Advanced Level Qualifications, IB)

It was a great experience learning from Abbie as she had shown great enthusiasm and was very passionate about teaching. She went beyond her extent and taught me lots of new things! She has a great interest in biology and her lessons are very engaging. More than that, she is very amicable and lovable!
Abbie really helped me better understand Biology. I was really struggling to get my head around Cellular respiration, primarily the Krebs cycle and she was really thorough and clear while explaining it. Highly recommended!
