About Olivia
First and foremost, I absolutely love languages!
I understand many students just want to 'pass their language GCSEs and get it over and done with' - many students use me to help them get through the tough exams and I am happy to do that, but I always encourage students to try and enjoy what they are working on (even if it is the deadliest grammar task...).
As a student myself, I understand how challenging learning a language can be and the difficulties faced with exams - I only sat my GCSE's 3 years ago and A Levels last year! Therefore, I feel students are more comfortable being tutored by another student - there is a stronger relationship there.
Receiving a 9 in GCSE Spanish and A in A Level French, I can definitely say I am equipped to tutor languages and inspire young children to either pass their exams or continue forwards with modern languages.
I am currently studying French and Spanish at Southampton University and I am loving it.

I tend to begin with a starter/warm up e.g. vocab test/grammar task/speaking question for 5/10 minutes.
I will then ask my student if they wish to go through anything they haven't understood from their lessons in school or would like some extra support.
Then, I will choose to focus on a particular area of weakness (that I have found out in a first consultation session) - listening, speaking, writing, reading, grammar, vocab etc.
I will choose worksheets to do, past papers, games as examples. We always go through everything to check understanding and any mistakes.
Typical length of a lesson - 1 hour.
I have been doing this for 3 years and have seen significant results in student's grades and attitude to learning. Following up with an extra hour of learning/revising can really help to consolidate student's learning.
